Beautiful Pet Contest!

We will start campaigning again in the summer 2008. Is your pet the best in the county. You can send in your application by filling out our online application and sending in photos that we can add to the website. Then you need to start collecting votes. Each dollar = 1 vote - of course change is good and all that change will add up to dollars so doesn't matter how big or little the animals in Pickens County will appreciate your efforts. We will also set up a link here on the website for people to place votes via Paypal so send out a link to all your family and friends.

Miss Molly and Miss Murphy Hall

Miss Molly, wearing the lime green collar, will be five years old and Miss Murphy, in the pink collar, will be four years old. These girls were adopted within one year of each other and are like twin sisters. They love to play ball, swim, eat and sleep. You can bet that these two will be together somewhere whether sleeping or playing.

You think your pet is the most beautiful to walk the streets of Jasper? Well, let’s find out! Pickens Animal Rescue is holding its annual Most Beautiful Pet in Pickens County contest. This contest is one of our largest fund raisers this all volunteer organization hold each year. Although there will be only one beautiful pet named as the winner in the contest, the real winners are the homeless pets that need our help in Pickens County. Your pet or pets can enter regardless if they were adopted through our group or not, rescued or purchased.

To enter your pet into the contest is very simple and there is no minimum required to raise in order to show off your pet. Please visit our website www.pickensanimalrescue.org and complete the entry form. If you don't have access to the internet, please call our help line at 706-692-2772 and leave a message and a volunteer will contact you. A photo of your pet and a brief bio will be listed on the website for all to see and vote! Articles in the paper with your pet's picture will also be shown as we get closer to the Marble Festival. The pet that raises the most money by the end of the Marble Festival will be named the Most Beautiful Pet. Each dollar equals one vote! Last year's winners were the 2 Great Danes owned by Dr. Craig Chester, owner of Animal Medical Clinic. Each contestant is asked to raise votes (money!) on their own through work, family, and friends and all other creative ways! Some contestants’ posts signs at area businesses, have t-shirts made with their pet's photo and other's solicit by having wine/cheese parties, bar-b-q's and other fun social events. The money can be turned in at any time once your pet has been registered and the totals will be tallied continuously by the administrator of Pickens Animal Rescue.

Remember, your contributions are going to a non-profit 501(C) (3) corporation and are tax deductible! We appreciate all the support this event has received in the past and we are excited about another great contest!
